Best known as a motorcycle racing circuit, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, named after the motorbike racer who died from Leukaemia a year before the circuit opened, is one of Spain’s top tracks.

Built by the Government of Valencia, the circuit was designed with a key ethos – “a circuit inside a stadium” – allowing spectators to see all areas of the circuit from almost any location.

With a capacity of 120,000, the venue is hugely popular when hosting its major MotoGP events. It has also been host to various touring car series over the years, including the European and World Championships, the DTM and TCR International in its first season, although the track’s first decade saw far more tin-top action than its second.

The main Grand Prix configuration is unaltered since the track opened in September 1999. Several other variations are possible, but seldom used.

As of 2021, the track has been homologated as FIA Grade 1, allowing all levels of motorsport to be held.
